Dec 2015 – It’s always a pleasure for us at Yayasan Tun Abdul Hamid to meet with our sponsored children, Maisarah, Halimah, Fatihah & Irfan, and have them share their scholastic experiences with us and this time was no exception.

As usual, another year has gone by all too swiftly, with the children kept busy with their daily school routine and extra-curricular activities. Among the highlights of their year:

Maisarah has discovered a hidden talent in culinary arts, winning second place in her school culinary competition! She also participated in the Annual Police Cadet celebrations, the Gerakan Seni organised by Balai Seni Lukis Negara, and the One Million Purple Walk Carnival (held in conjunction with International Women’s Day).

Halimatul Sa’adiah had several notable experiences too, throughout the year. Included among them was representing her school in hockey “peringkat zon”, taking part in various athletic and running events at school, and perhaps most exciting of all, winning third place in the water rocket competition “peringkat zon”.

For Fatihah, 2015 comprised of participating in the “Kem Puteri Islam sekolah peringkat zon”, winning third place in the baton race at school, as well as going on several interesting field trips like a soya drink factory to observe how soya drinks are made, visiting our National Mosque (Masjid Negara), which celebrated its 50th anniversary, and browsing round the Book Fair at PWTC – simple wholesome activities which are part and parcel of school life.

Eleven year old Irfan had an activity filled year, too, winning medals in school sporting events and participating in extra curricular camps. He was also a prize winner in the school Bahasa Malaysia quiz.

It truly warms the hearts of all of us at the Yayasan to hear of our Children’s progress. Wishing Maisarah, Halimatul Sa’adiah, Fatihah and Irfan all the best for 2016!
