“…relief of human suffering and improvement of the standard of human life.”
– Clause 3(d) of the Memorandum of Association of Yayasan Tun Abdul Hamid
The Yayasan currently sponsors four children as part of its humanitarian efforts in alleviating the plight of the financially disadvantaged.
Siti Maisarah, Halimatul Sa’adiah, Siti Nur Fatihah and Muhammad Irfan Fakhrullah live with their mother, Puan Ana Yahaya in a DBKL flat. Their father left them several years ago and their mother has to rely on a part-time job in a restaurant and helping out at a fruit stall in order to pay the rent and meet the family’s daily needs. The recurrence of an old sports injury from her schooldays means their mother requires regular medical treatment which puts a further strain on the family’s financial resources. The fear of eviction from their home because of inability to pay the rent is never far from their mother’s mind.
The Yayasan’s sponsorship of the children’s living expenses helps to ease the financial hardship of the family so the children, all of whom are pupils of Sekolah Kebangsaan Bandar Baru Sentul, Kuala Lumpur, who have been performing satisfactorily in school, may continue to concentrate on their studies in order to secure a better future for themselves.
