23rd December 2013 — Nine International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) students at various levels of study of their undergraduate Law degree course were among the receipients of the YAYASAN TUN ABDUL HAMID LAW BURSARY AWARDS 2013.

At a special ceremony at the Al-Nawawi Conference Room in the Ahmad Ibrahim Kuliyyah of Laws building, IIUM campus in Gombak, Selangor, YTAH Director, Puan Ellina binti Abdul Majid personally presented cheques of between RM1500 – RM2200 to each of the recipients, in the presence of the Deputy Dean (Student Affairs), Assoc. Professor Dr. Ramizah Wan Muhammad.

Seven of the recipients were selected from recommendations made by the Student Affairs department of the university, basied ton the following criteria : (i) Academic achievement (ii) Level of study (iii) Combined family income per month (iv) No. of parents still living (v) No. of dependent siblings in the family.

The students were as follows :
1. Cik Nang Husna Nik Kamal
2. Cik Nurul Shafiqah Akma Mohd. Zaki
3. Cik Nur Shyamira Abdul Hamid
4. Cik Masitah Samsuddin
5. Encik Ghufranik Abdul Hamid
6. Encik Azeel Eskander Azmi
7. Encik Kasyfurrahman Abang Ahmad

In addition to the seven students, there were two additional students from IIUM who were successful for the second year running, in their application to the Yayasan website advertisement for bursary awards. One of the requirements stated in the advertisement was that applicants had to answer two Law based questions and one Humanitarian based question and it was noted that both applicants answered the questions concisely and competently.

The two students were Cik Nadiah Khairi binti Khairuddin and Encik Shamsal Ezani bin Shamsul Bahri.
