It was a proud moment brimming with gratitude and joy for All of Us at Yayasan Tun Abdul Hamid to know that our inaugural scholar, Cik Wan Nur Shazwani binti Makhtar graduated with Honours (Second Class Upper) at the 30th International Islamic University Malaysia Convocation Ceremony held at its campus in Gombak, Selangor on 11-13 October 2014 / 14 – 16 Zulhijjah 1435H.

It doesn’t seem such a long time ago but it has actually been four years since Nur Shazwani was announced as the first recipient of the Yayasan Tun Abdul Hamid Law Scholarship with a cash value of RM28,000.00.

A shining example of the qualities expected of a Yayasan Tun Abdul Hamid scholar, the soft spoken and petite Nur Shazwani was a diligent student whose exam results were consistently of a high standard. In addition, she performed the charitable duties assigned to her with empathy and dignity, which was apparent of her steadfast religious beliefs.

She admitted that university life was not always easy. However, having a supportive family ever willing to lend an ear to any problems which arose in the course of her studies, helped. Also, her ability to commit to memory quite easily the relevant chunks of legal material was an advantage.

The Yayasan is truly blessed to have had an exemplary scholar and wishes Nur Shazwani the very Best in her future endeavours.

Currently undergoing her pupillage with the law firm, MessrsĀ Hasif Azham Rizal & Co., Shazwani indicated that her affinity for academia will hopefully enable her to embark on postgraduate law studies after her call to the Malaysian Bar next year, insyaAllah.
