Yayasan Tun Abdul Hamid has provided scholarships to needy students pursuing undergraduate Law degree courses since 1999. After a hiatus of a few years, the Yayasan is pleased to embark on its scholarship programme again. However, the whole programme has been completely revamped, including a new procedure for application and selection, an increase in the monetary sum awarded and the additional gift of a Compaq laptop i3 processor with Windows 7.
YTAH 2010 SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS CEREMONY
A special ceremony was held at a private venue on Saturday 24th July 2010 to present the Yayasan Tun Abdul Hamid 2010 Scholarship Awards.
The Yayasan Tun Abdul Hamid 2010 Scholarship awards constitute the beginning of a new programme undertaken by the Yayasan whereby needy students pursuing an undergraduate Law degree course at any Malaysian public university are given monetary assistance as a means of relieving the financial burden of education faced by their parents.

While each scholarship is worth approximately RM30,000.00 to cover the duration of a four-year undergraduate honours law degree course as well as a gift of a lap top computer, Chairman of Yayasan Tun Abdul Hamid, Azizuddin bin Abdul Hamid, in his speech stated:
YTAH Chairman, Azizuddin bin Tun Abdul Hamid announcing the recipient of the YTAH 2010 Scholarship awards.
“The award of a Yayasan Tun Abdul Hamid scholarship is not just about the monetary benefit. It is a rare honour and privilege bestowed on a carefully selected individual who must not only excel in her or his studies but must also possess the virtues of honesty, humility, a moral sense of duty, a natural interest in charitable works and community service and the ability to interact with people from all walks of life and levels of society.
My late father, Allahyarham Tun Dato’ Seri Haji Abdul Hamid after whom the Yayasan is named, had a distinguished career in the judiciary which spanned forty years from 1955 to 1995. It is therefore fitting that a Yayasan scholar must be a person of strong credentials – a person who may be regarded as a goodwill ambassador for the Yayasan and a role model for all young people aspiring to pursue Law as their chosen academic field of study and career.
While I am pleased to report that our scholarship awards programme generated a lot of interest and received an encouraing number of applications from bright, young Malaysians who had attained excellent grades in their exams, surprisingly there was only one candidate who possessed the additional qualities that set her apart from the rest. That candidate was of course, Cik Wan Nur Shazwani.”

Another award, a one-time bursary of RM1000.00 was also presented to Cik Siti Farishah binti Razlan, a first year student studying an Honours Law degree course at the University of Malaya in Kuala Lumpur. It was Cik Siti Farishah’s well-composed personal statement for her scholarship application and enthusiasm at the scholarship interview which prompted one of the Directors of the Yayasan to sponsor the award.
