YAYASAN TUN ABDUL HAMID is pleased to announce that the Yayasan is sponsoring the following prizes for the Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) convocation ceremony for a period of three years : 2013, 2014 & 2015.

The prizes are for Best Student in Co-Curriculum (RM1000.00 x 3 years), Best Student in Professional Practice (RM500.00 x 3 years) and Best Student in Public International Law (RM500.00 x 3 years).

The Law faculty (Kulliyyah of Laws) at IIU is one of the premier law schools in Malaysia. It was one of the two kulliyyah (faculties) formed at the inception of the IIUM in 1983. It started with three teaching staff and 59 students. In 2001, it was re-named Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws (AIKOL) after the demise of its esteemed founder, Al-Marhum Professor Emeritus Tan Sri Datuk Ahmad Ibrahim bin Mohamed Ibrahim, a pioneering figure in Malaysian legal education. It was the late Tan Sri Datuk Ahmad Ibrahim himself who devised AIKOL’s integrated curriculum where Islamic Law is taught alongside the Malaysian Civil Law.

As an inspiration to aspiring Law undergraduates, mention must be made of Al-Marhum Tan Sri Datuk Ahmad Ibrahim’s academic achievements. Al-Marhum attained a Bachelor of Arts degree from St.John’s College of the University of Cambridge in 1939 with a First Class Economics Tripos & First Class Law Tripos He was awarded a Certificate of Honour (First Class) in the Bar Final Examination, 1941 and was called to the Honourable Society of Middle Temple, London. Among the prizes he was awarded at Cambridge was the George Long Prize for Roman Law and the McMahon Law Students’ Prize.
